A Laid-Back Summer Family Session at Seal Beach, California

There’s something about a warm day at the beach that brings out the best in family time, and this session with Matt, Allison, and little Callen was no exception. We met at Seal Beach on a sun-drenched afternoon, and although it was just a 25-minute mini session, we captured so many genuine moments together—laughs, sandy toes, and a bit of splash.

Seal Beach provided the perfect backdrop, with its gentle waves and expansive shoreline giving Matt and Callen plenty of room to play, while Allison joined in on the fun. The laid-back atmosphere matched the family’s vibe, making every shot feel like a candid moment right out of their summer story.

Callen’s boundless energy kept things spontaneous, and it was clear he was happiest with his feet in the surf, running up and down the beach, digging in the sand, and coaxing his parents to join him by the water. The family’s easygoing approach made it all about enjoying the present and letting Callen lead the way. There was no shortage of laughter, and we managed to catch those in-between moments where the family was simply being themselves—genuine, fun, and full of love.

This session goes to show just how much you can achieve in a short amount of time.
